Programmatic SEO (pSEO) is usually done with simple "Mad Libs" templates. We wanted to see what happens when you inject AI Creativity into pSEO.
The Project: A travel site targeting "Things to do in [City]." The Scale: 10,000 cities.
The "Old" pSEO Way
Template: "Here are the best things to do in {City}. {City} is a great place. You can visit {Landmark}." Problem: Duplicate content penalty. Every page looks the same.
The "AI" pSEO Way
We used GPT-3.5-Turbo (cheaper/faster) to rewrite the template for every single city. Input: City Name + Landmarks Data. Prompt: "Write a unique intro for a travel guide to {City} focusing on its {Climate} vibe."
Result:
- Miami: "Prepare for humidity and neon lights..."
- Seattle: "Grab your raincoat and coffee..."
- 10,000 Unique Intros.
The Results: Traffic
Month 1: 500 pages indexed. Traffic: Negligible. Month 3: 8,000 pages indexed. Traffic: 5,000/month. Month 6: 10,000 pages indexed. Traffic: 300,000/month.
Why the Hockey Stick? Long-tail aggregation. Each page only got 30 visits/month. But 10,000 pages * 30 visits = 300,000 visits.
The Results: Revenue
We put Mediavine Ads and Viator Affiliate Links on the pages. RPM (Revenue per Mille): $15. Monthly Revenue: $4,500. Total Cost to Build: $800 (API credits + Server). ROI: Infinite.
The Challenge: Index Bloat
Google stopped indexing at 8,000 pages. We hit a "Crawl Budget" wall. The Fix: We improved our Internal Linking. We created "State Hub Pages" (e.g., "Things to do in Florida") that linked to the top 20 cities. We submitted a distinct Sitemap for each State. (See Indexing Velocity Strategy).
Conclusion
